It was a late start for Napili but we snagged a parking spot along Lower Honoapiilani. We walked down Naplil Place to access the beach. What a zoo! Watch your okole! Crazy drivers are hoping for a parking spot in a very narrow road.
We hadn't been there before. It was a busy beach. Lots of people and the water was choppy; the small waves churned the sand so it was not ideal for snorkeling. I went around to south along the rocks and it was a little better. I think I would have liked it better if we came earlier in the morning and if summer wasn't in full swing.
R was happy to be at the beach and went out snorkeling too.

Then I saw a big honu as I was coming back
It was heading for a the limu on the rocks near the beach. That started a lot of excitement. People were yelling to each other to come see it. The snorkelers were hovering but seemed to be keeping some distance.
Then the honu got closer to shore and a bunch of people started wading in. One lady just had to touch it but someone told her it is illegal to harass the turtles. Do people think their life is going to change if they touch a turtle?
Things calmed down and I went back to enjoying the view
At one point I counted ten stand up paddle boards out on the water. Only one person was actually standing on it. A few were on their knees and the rest were sitting. I'm not making fun on the non-stand up people. I would definitely be in the latter group!
We stopped at Ohana tacos for lunch. It was perfect after the beach. Service was a bit slow though. I had two tacos pastor with pineapple, R got fish tacos, and J got chile verde.
With no other plans for the afternoon I went shopping. The first stop was Binky's. I had heard so much about it on TripAdvisor. It didn't disappoint! It's a small shop but packed with so many goodies. You have to look up, down, in nooks and crannies. The ivory piano key etchings are so beautiful but I couldn't convince myself to buy the one with a Humu. I found lots of other small beautiful things, some for me, some that will end up in someone's Christmas package. I walked in another local art place near Times grocery with nice things but I didn't buy anything. I also hit up Lahaina Outlet for a few cheap goodies. I had to get this
We felt badly that the kid couldn't go to Mama's so we went out for another great meal. We went to Honu (next door to Mala, same owner). We got a seat right next to the ocean! There was a screen that reduced the sun but we still needed sunglasses. It was lifted just before sunset. You could hear the waves and look at the sailboats.
The drinks, food, and dessert were great and the prices aren't unreasonable.
J got an ahi appetizer
And a Mahi Mahi special
R and I got the Kobe Burger. Probably not good for your arteries but it tasted soooo good! Hey, we're on vacation!
Sunset came before dessert
For dessert R and I couldn't decide between the Lilikoi Raspberry Tart and the Turtle Cheesecake. So we got both. J wanted chocolate so got the Dark Chocolate Torte with Beets (yes, beets!). You couldn't tasted the beets but it's just weird.
Only one more full day...
Kim
